N2 - Summary. The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has been linked to an increased use of antibiotics and a rise in antimicrobial resistance in United States and European hospitals, which has contributed to the morbidity and mortality of hospitalized patients with covid-19. We have observed an increase in colonization and nosocomial infections by multidrug-resistant bacteria. In this study, we have evaluated the prevalence of KPC bloodstream infections in a tertiary level hospital located in North-Eastern Italy during the period 2019-first quarter of 2021. Our data show a significant increase of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bloodstream infections and an increased use of ceftazidime/avibactam.
